STM World Announces Recent Muti Use Games Area (MUGA) Construction Completion

Saltburn-by-the-Sea, UK – STM World has announced the opening of its recently completed Multi Use Games Area for Thorston Primary School. The project, one of the latest ones completed by the company, focused on creating the perfect area for games and athletic activities.

Announcing the project completion, the company’s spokesperson noted that their team at Synthetic Turf Management spearheaded the design and construction of the new MUGA, which has turned the once muddy playing field into an open space for sporting activities.

The spokesperson added that the field was waterlogged for most of the year prior to the MUGA construction. He noted, “Although the school had a large natural field space, the new MUGA is directly in line with the existing playground and now creates another open space for the children to flow from each area.”

STM World supported Thorston Primary School from the beginning of the project, handling the initial site survey, design phase, and planning application support. With all hands on deck, the team took three weeks to complete the MUGA installation from site establishment to installations of drainage soak-away system, base construction, sports performance pad, and synthetic Astro Turf.

Explaining how Multi Use Games Area surfaces can benefit schools and establishments, the company’s spokesperson noted that the multi-use areas can facilitate a wide array of activities while also saving space. The experts at STM World are able to deliver various MUGA options to clients based on their needs and goals.

Jon Bell, speaking on behalf of STM World, said that they categorise their MUGAs into different categories, including Type 1 and Type 2, which are mainly suitable for sports like netball, tennis, and basketball. The Type 3 and Type 4 are made from polymeric rubber surface finishes and are suitable for 5-a-side football, basketball, netball, and similar games.

The Type 5A are 2G sand-filled surfaces with synthetic grass are more stable and versatile for games like football and hockey. They also do Type 5B MUGA, which is mainly sand but dressed in Astroturf and perfect for hockey and similar games.

Jon Bell also noted that they do Type C MUGA, which features a multisport needle punch finish and is suitable for football and hockey or even athletics running tracks. Their 3G MUGA is the highest turf specification surface available and has natural qualities that make it suitable for professional football and rugby matches.

STM World is proud of its achievements and looks forward to replicating the success with other schools, sporting facilities, and clients.
