New York, NY – Two decades ago, Dr. Cameron Rokhsar, MD revolutionized the field of laser resurfacing through his involvement with the FDA clinical trials which paved the way for the FDA approval of the Fraxel laser technology. Since then, the fraxel laser has changed the face of laser resurfacing, having become the most widely used laser in the world for non-ablative treatment of acne scars, wrinkles, sun damage, melasma and stretchmarks. Dr. Rokhsar’s groundbreaking work with a prototype fraxel laser led to the development of currently used protocols for the treatment of conditions which require laser resurfacing.
Dr. Rokhsar’s remarkable journey began two decades ago when he, along with the world-renowned laser dermatologist, the late Richard E. Fitzpatrick, MD, worked together to develop clinical protocols to treat acne scars, wrinkles and melasma with the prototype fraxel laser. Their work led to the first published scientific papers on using the fraxel laser for acne and surgical scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, melasma, and sun damage. Dr. Rokhsar then embarked on a two-month world-wide trip to demonstrate the use of the fraxel laser to dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the United States and abroad in Australia, Germany, England, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Hong Kong.
Having performed more than 100,000 fraxel laser treatments over the past two decades, Dr. Rokhsar has performed more fraxel laser treatments than any other physician in the world. Physicians in the United States and around the world continue to refer hard to treat conditions to Dr. Rokhsar for laser resurfacing.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to have been a part of the development of Fraxel technology. For two decades, I’ve witnessed the transformative impact it has had on my patients’ lives, giving them renewed confidence and healthier, more youthful-looking skin. Until this breakthrough laser, physicians’ options to treat many conditions such as scars, wrinkles or stretchmarks were limited” said. Dr. Rokhsar. “I am grateful to have been at the forefront of this revolutionary technology.”
To celebrate this significant achievement, Dr. Rokhsar will be hosting an exclusive event that brings together colleagues, patients, and industry leaders. The event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable journey of the past two decades and to look forward to the future of dermatology and skin rejuvenation.
